BIKE COURSE
OPEN to TRAFFIC:
Cyclists MUST obey ALL traffic laws. On all courses cyclists ride through traffic STOP signs through a right-of-way traffic coned-lane.  Stay on the INSIDE/RIGHT SIDE of the cones!

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

SPRINT: Attention past racers: the Sprint Run Course has CHANGED!
SWIM – 1⁄4 mi CLOCKWISE triangular swim in shallower and warmer part of lake.
WETSUITS OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED!
BIKE – 8 mile loop
leave campground area and Right onto Northshore Drive Right onto Highway 158 through the town of June Lake Sharp Right (this is a turn that you don’t want to miss – otherwise you are on the Olympic course) back onto Northshore Drive (across from June Mountain Ski Area) uphill Pass Aid Station #3 (State Farm Insurance Red Tent) (also Sprint Run Turn-around) Right onto Pinecliff Drive and Right at Oh! Ridge Campground intersection to return back to June Lake Swim Beach/Transition.  SLOW down for sharp RIGHT turn back into transition and bike dismount line.

RUN – 5K/3miles OUT & BACK.  Attention past racers: the Sprint Run Course has CHANGED!
Head to beach out of transition area.  Continue on flat single track along lake area.
RIGHT turn up steep 4WD road up to a gate and paved road.  You will pass Aid Station #1 and remain on the steep uphill until you hit the pavement.  There is NO MORE DOG LEG on the Sprint run course.
LEFT turn at brown gate, Northshore Drive (paved road).
Continue STRAIGHT on pavement (hilly) out PAST STATE FARM INSURANCE Aid Station and down the hill to your SPRINT RUN TURN-AROUND. 
Trace your steps back to the finish line!
Head STRAIGHT at the bottom of the steep 4WD road past Aid Station #1 to a single track closer to the water than the one you came out on for the run start.  RIGHT turn down rocky steps onto the beach to FINISH.

OLYMPIC:
SWIM – 1500m
WETSUITS REQUIRED!

CLOCKWISE Triangular course starting at swim beach on one side of buoys and finishing at swim beach on the other side of buoys.

BIKE – 25 mile loop clockwise along Hwy 158 (the June Lake Loop).
After leaving the Transition area (bike exit).  Left at Pinecliff Drive and LEFT again to stay on Pinecliff Dr. (leaving beach and campground area). RIGHT onto Northshore Drive. RIGHT onto Highway 158 through the village of June Lake. Ride the June Lake Loop PAST June Mountain Ski Area (Northshore Dr intersection).  Don’t get confused – Sprint racers turn right here. RIGHT onto Hwy 395 (stay in the bike lane!) and stay to the inside (right) of the cones that mark your right of way during that turn – no stop required. RIGHT back onto Hwy 158 (June Lake Loop).  RIGHT back onto Northshore Drive at Oh! Ridge turn-off.  LEFT onto Pinecliff Drive (1/2 mile).  RIGHT to stay on Pinecliff Drive at the Oh! Ridge campground intersection and down to the beach/transition area. SLOW down for sharp RIGHT turn back into transition and bike dismount line.



RUN – 6.4 miles

XTERRA STYLE. THINK WILDFLOWER AT 8,000 FEET
This is a very grueling, challenging run course on trail. Course is extremely hilly with a very steep uphill and downhill single track section.

Still, super scenic and gorgeous — a trail runner”‘”s dream! Definitely gives you the flavor of trail running in the High Sierra..On par with Wildflower but at 8,000 feet!

Run Course Detailed Description:
Head to beach out of transition area
RIGHT headed north onto single track trail along lake
Sharp RIGHT up steep 4WD road
Sharp RIGHT to get to gate and paved road Sharp Left at brown gate, Northshore Drive (paved road)
Straight (hilly) past 1.07 miles to Aid Station #3(big red State Farm Insurance tent)
Cross road with cross-guard volunteers for a Sharp RIGHT turn up 4WD road leading to Snow Ponds/ Reverse Peak Trail.
At intersection of 4WD road and single track is Aid Station #4.
LEFT just passed Aid #4 up very steep single track (1/4 mile approximately)
Follow single track trail at top (1.5 mile approximately of flat/slightly uphill/rolling single track, pass 2 ponds on right).
See the Angels at Angel Aid for some limited but welcomed Aid.
Continue on trail loop (down 1/2 mile steep, technical and rocky) Aid Station #5 is at bottom of 4WD road.
LEFT back onto single track paralleling Northshore Drive.
Continue on 4WD road paralleling Northshore Drive.
Meet pavement/Northshore Drive – now backtracking over run course and crossing road again with cross guard volunteers. STRAIGHT past Aid Station #3.
RIGHT back down steep 4WD road at gate Follow same trail back down (very steep).
STRAIGHT passed Aid Station #1
LEFT  onto single track closer to beach than the one you came out on.
RIGHT down rocky steps onto beach and FINISH LINE! 

LONG COURSE: Attention past racers: the Half-Ironman Run Course has CHANGED!

SWIM – 1900meters/1.2miles
WETSUITS REQUIRED!

Clockwise Triangular course starting at swim beach on one side of buoys and finishing at swim beach on the other side of buoys.  Two lap course: 1 small triangle and around-a-buoy for second lap:  1 big triangle.

BIKE – 52 mile loop course (Olympic Course 2x + Sprint Course 1x)  Clockwise around Hwy 158 (the June Lake Loop) twice and then around Northshore Drive loop once before returning back to transition area.

After leaving the Transition area (bike exit).  Left at Pinecliff Drive and LEFT again to stay on Pinecliff Dr. (leaving beach and campground area). RIGHT onto Northshore Drive. RIGHT onto Highway 158 through the village of June Lake. Ride the June Lake Loop PAST June Mountain Ski Area (Northshore Dr intersection).  Don’t get confused! – Sprint racers turn right here. (you will turn right here on your THRID loop but NOT your first or second!) Continue past Silver Lake, past Grant Lake.  Just passed the BIKE AID station (with porta-john) turn RIGHT onto Hwy 395 (stay in the bike lane!) and stay to the inside (right) of the cones that mark your right of way during that turn – no stop required. RIGHT back onto Hwy 158 (June Lake Loop).  Repeat entire loop once (do not return to race site; go past Oh! Ridge / Northshore Dr. Do not Pass Go; Do Not Collect $200.)  After second loop, (again, do not return to race site; go past Oh! Ridge / Northshore Dr.) head straight on Hwy 158 through June Lake village/town section to follow Sprint course.  This time you WILL turn RIGHT on Northshore Dr. at June Mountain Ski Area. Head up the steep road for consecutive hills passed Aid Station #3 (run course aid with big State Farm Insurance Red Tent). Downhill to flat and then RIGHT onto Pinecliff Drive (for 1/2 mile).  Turn RIGHT to stay on Pinecliff Drive at the Oh! Ridge campground intersection and down to the beach/transition area. SLOW down for sharp RIGHT turn back into transition and bike dismount line.

Run Course Detailed Description:
2 laps of the Olympic Run Course.
After Lap 1, runners return almost to the beach and turn left for Lap 2 (instead of right to finish) to repeat the course a second time.
Head to beach out of transition area
Right headed north onto single track trail along lake
Sharp Right up steep 4WD road
Continue for a sharp Right to get to a gate and paved road.
Sharp Left at brown gate, Northshore Drive (paved road).
STRAIGHT past 1.07 miles to Aid Station #3 (big red State Farm Insurance tent).
Downhill until you see volunteers helping you cross the road near the ball field (on your left).
Sharp RIGHT turn UP another steep 4WD road leading to Snow Ponds/ Reverse Peak Trail.
At intersection of 4WD road and single track is Aid Station #4
Left up very steep single track (1/4 mile approximately)
Follow single track trail at top (1.5 mile approximately of flat/slightly uphill/rolling single track, pass 2 ponds on right and see the Angels at Angel Aid Station with limited aid)
Continue on trail loop (down 1/2 mile steep, technical and rocky).
Aid Station #5 is at bottom of 4WD road.
LEFT back onto single track paralleling Northshore Drive.
Continue on 4WD road paralleling Northshore Drive.
Meet pavement/Northshore Drive – now backtracking over run course.
Cross road with volunteers to pass Aid Station #3 (big red State Farm Insurance tent).
TURN RIGHT AT BROWN GATE back down steep 4WD road at gate
Follow dirt road down (very steep) to Aid Station #1.
LEFT onto single track closer to beach than the one you came out on.
1st LAP: LEFT Turn before beach to repeat course
2nd LAP: RIGHT Turn down rocky steps onto beach and FINISH LINE!

SWIM in shallow lake shore area (out and back around 1 buoy)
BIKE out transition area and Turn Right to Parking Lot of Beach #2. U-Turn-around at 2nd Parking Lot (counter-clockwise/ left turn and left again).and continue past transition area.
Turn Left on Pinecliff Dr.
U-Turn at the END of Pinecliff Dr. (where it ENDS & intersects with Northshore Dr)
Return back to the transition area on steep downhill.  Slow Down for sharp right turn into the first entrance of transition. Bike In and Dismount at Dismount Line.
RUN
head out on same trail as all run courses along meadow to the first intersection.
Turn Right up a steep 4WD road and U-turn around is at landing mid-way.
Head down the steep hill and run back on a single track trail.  Turn Right down rocky steps to the beach and the  Finish Line!
