Sunday Workout: Run Up McGee to practice for Tioga Pass Run! @ Eastside Bakeshop at McGee Creek Lodge

Get Ready for Graniteman and other races this season with Club Group Workouts for the month of August.

Run and Bike with endurance focus.

Free to all current club members.

This week:

Jeff leads the workout today.

Meet at Eastside Bakeshop at McGee exit in Crowley Lake.

Today’s workout is an uphill run up McGee Creek Road to prepare for Day 3 of the Graniteman Challenge: Tioga Pass Run.

 

Mileage  =4.25 ONE WAY to the pack station. Average grade =4% and max grade = 8% (same as Tioga Pass Road)

Option to continue on dirt to the trailhead parking lot for extra miles.

Prepare to run up AND down the road so plan your mileage accordingly.

Option to shuttle a car(s) to pick up at the top of the hill and carpool back down to eliminate the downhill run.

BEST PART: Bakery afterwards!  Replenish with heart egg dishes, scones, cookies, breads, coffee, tea, lemonade, iced tea and more!

Swim workout and drills with Pres Sally

Each Monday we’ll have a workout posted and Sally will be with us for feedback.

Be in the pool warming up by 7:30 am.  Pool closes at 8:30 am and we want to get our full hour of training. See you there!

 

Pool lap swim hours are:

M-F 6:30 am to 8:30 am

Tue/Thurs  5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Open water swim practice with group support.

Bring your wetsuit, cap and goggles and a few towels.  Bring warm clothes for after.  If you want to bike or run on your own after our swim, bring your gear.

Prez Sally will lead the group.

 

The focus for AUGUST is endurance in preparation for the Graniteman challenge.  We will be working toward swimming 2.4 miles.  Come join us!

This week:

Meet at Whitmore Ball Fields on Benton Crossing Road passed the Green Church on your left next to the Whitmore Animal Shelter.

Today’s workout is an endurance ride on the Gran Fondo course to prepare for Day 2 of the Graniteman Challenge: Mammoth Gran Fondo.

Ride out to the junction of Hwy 120 and back to start.

Mileage  = 60.5 miles round trip.   Elevation Gain = 4000′.  Average grade =2% and max grade = 9%.

Option to shorten the ride at any time.  Just turn around!

BEST PART: We can avoid Hwy 395 on a holiday weekend!
